Dear Rafael,

Now that i have been able to enjoy my new kitchen renovation this past week, I have to tell you how beautiful everything came out, and how happy I am with the renovation and the work that was done. Its hard for me to believe it is the same kitchen I have lived with for the past 23 years. Its without hesitation I write the following.

I would not hesitate to recommend Shifra for any type of construction or renovation work. Rafael and the whole Shifra team is very knowledgeable, professional, hard working and caring. Everyone showed up promptly and worked very hard to get the job complete. There was a few issues that occurred during construction, but Rafael was always very caring and concerned, and wanted to make sure i was happy and completely satisfied. Emails and phone calls are always returned promptly. My kitchen renovation was in a coop, and Rafael is extremely knowledgeable about coop rules and regulations and requirements, so I was advised up front about any fees that would be required prior to the start of the job. There were no surprises, and Rafael came in exactly on budget and the new kitchen has a very high end look at a reasonable price. Rafael also constructed for me a granite dining room table with a wine rack and storage cabinet underneath that is absolutely beautiful

My husband and I want to take this opportunity to thank Rafael, Barry and the entire Shifra Construction staff for the renovation work done on our home.  The crew was professional, polite and always attentive to all our needs and concerns.

We had just purchased our first home and needed extensive renovation.  In addition, we were on a tight timeline because of the need to move out of our existing resident.   Shifra Construction completed the project in a timely and efficient manner without sacrificing quality of work.  At one point during the renovation, there was a crew of 10 workers.  They even worked on a couple of Sundays to ensure that the house was ready for us.

There were numerous occasions that they went out of their way to accommodate our needs.  I recalled the heating system was not ready – Rafael not only went beyond the call of duty to get us electrical heaters for the house at his expense, he offered to pay for that month’s electrical bill.  Additionally, he took time from his Sabbath, came in with an electrician/plumber and stayed into the late night to make sure the heater was back up and running for our family.  We are truly fortunate to have hired Shifra Construction and met Rafael.

We valued the experience so much that we hired their service again this past summer to complete fencing and exterior house work.  Both projects were truly enjoyable and the jobs were exceptional.   It is without hesitation and with great pleasure that we recommend Shifra Construction for any home improvement projects.  For us, we’ve found our contractor.

It is with great pleasure that I recommend Shifra Construction for any home improvement projects.

Shifra construction completed a very extensive apartment renovation for me at a high level of quality in a timely and cost effective manner. I was very cautious of contractors before beginning the project as I have heard numerous contractor horror stories. But after the completion of the project I can truly say that they didn’t let me down. Shifra construction is dependable, punctual and respectful of the scope of the project. The guys showed up early everyday and worked continuously all day long. In addition, they finished the entire project before the estimated time frame.

The best part about Rafi and Barry from Shifra Construction is that they take you as their own family and will work as if they are renovating their own home. In lot of instances they truly went out of their way to make sure the project finished on time. I never had to wait for a response from them. They always returned my calls and emails in a timely manner. They always were open to hearing out my concerns and since this was first time I was doing a renovation I had a lot of them. And they truly addressed each one of them and were very flexible. 

They have a great feel for designing the home. For example we had a problem of lighting in the apartment and Rafi recommended that we do cove lighting as it would look good. After the renovation was completed, the lighting was one of the best decisions we made thanks to Rafi.

Once again, thanks for the great job. Feel free to use this letter as a reference to demonstrate your honesty and work ethic. I would recommend you to others in a heartbeat and will definitely do so given the opportunity. Furthermore, you can be sure that we will call upon you for any future home renovations.

My husband and I had just completed a kitchen renovation with another contractor that lasted three times longer than expected, with half the quality we were hoping for… and all the while we were living in the apartment with our 6 month old!  So we went looking for an easy, but affordable solution for our bathroom renovation.

I found an advertisement for Shifra Construction in the mail, looked them up online and made the call.  Within 24 hours, Barry came over to take a look at our bathroom and give us an estimate.  He was extremely professional and knowledgeable, and he instilled confidence that the job would get done.  He never pressured us into signing right away, so we continued our research, found other contractors that were more and less expensive, and then determined that Shifra would be the best choice for us.  When I got back in touch with Barry, he was over with a contract the next day and gave me a list of items we would need for the remodel (including how many square feet of tile).  When we found out that our materials were on back order, Barry checked in with me every week to see if we were ready to start the project.  It was such a relief not having to track down a contractor for a change!

As soon as the materials were ready to ship, I called Barry to schedule the start date and he accommodated our schedule completely.  Ulysses did the work under the instruction of Barry and he was amazing!  He came at 9 on the dot every day and always checked in with us when he was about to start a new task (like location of plumbing, where the medicine cabinet should be, height of tile and where the accent tile should go, etc).  Barry also checked in with us every couple of days to make sure everything was going smoothly.  Even after construction was complete and the final payment had gone out, he was very responsive for all of the little punch list items that I hadn’t noticed previously.  In fact, they sent a foreman over twice after the project finished to fix some paint that had chipped accidentally and to help us fix the shelves in our medicine cabinet.  It was a nice breath of fresh air to work with a construction company that cares about good work yet charges affordable rates.

All in all, the project was done on time and on budget… and it looks so good that an appraiser gave us credit for three times the amount we spent!  We are so pleased with our new bathroom and recommend Shifra Construction if you want your remodeling project to be painless and rewarding.  Please get in touch with us if you’d like to discuss our renovation, we’d be happy to share our experience with Shifra Construction.

"There are a few times in a life time that one meets someone so special – that it becomes a life changing experience. This was my experience when I met Raphael.

I had bought my coop in Forest Hills years ago. It had a wonderful location and a very special feeling of space. However, there was so much to do to make it home.

The terrace was in bad shape – paint on the brick – paint peeling on the ceiling. The kitchen was out of date – old buckling floors, cracks on the ceiling – paint chipping off everywhere, a stove that did not register accurate hear, a refrigerator that froze things in the refrigerator area (not the freezer) – making it impossible to cook a good meal. The hardwood floors needed refinishing. The bathrooms were outdated. There were missing tiles, cracks in the walls and tiles.

I lived in this coop – I owned it – but it was not my home.

I decided to try and find a contractor to help restore the brick on my terrace so that I could enjoy the terrace during the summer months.

I had heard that finding a good construction company was difficult.

I took a chance and answered an ad for Shifra Construction and I met Raphael.

Somehow my fears about using a contractor stopped. Raphael came with cards, pictures, references and ideas that sounded wonderful.

It seemed that Raphael, owner of Shifra Construction, had the knowledge and resources for all my condo issues and more – and somehow I trusted him. I called the references and got only positive, glowing reports.

I signed a contract with Raphael – Shifra Construction – and I have never regretted it!

Raphael’s sense of color, space, value, and design are amazing. He has secured a work force of painters, electricians, tile workers, floor specialists – who are professional, ethical, kind and artists in their specialties.

Raphael introduced me to his partner Barry who has over-0seen the work on my coop. Barry has been available, professional, caring and knowledgeable throughout the work done on my coop.

Raphael has been there to help me pick the right tiles, fixtures, carpeting and colors. My sense of color and design are good – his is outstanding.

The coop is now a reflection of me – and then some, as Raphael and Barry were able to encourage me to use colors and space in a way that was creative and beautiful – as well as functional and within the confines of my budget.

All of these qualities of Raphael and his staff are coupled with his/their honesty and caring nature.

I have always felt that Raphael’s interest in the renovation of my home was the same interest and inspiration he would have had if I were a member of his family.
